Fashion || Paris Fashion Week: Manish Arora Fall 2011

For his Fall 2011 Collection, Manish Arora made a noticeable transition from
looks mostly composed of intricate beadwork and slash-spread techniques to
one that adapts a Parisian attitude; characterized by more than bold eyes outlined in black
with strong red lips. Some of the key items included satin shirts with lantern sleeves,
shaved fur knee-length skirts, hair wrapped headpieces,
curling corsets and body armor (or 'breast plates'), large fur sleeves
combined with a mix of multiple kaleidoscope patterned prints.

The Fall 2011 collection followed an ongoing list of designers that have designed a
collection reminiscent of 70s glamour, effortless sex appeal, and style.
Glamour: palazzo pants, patent leather dresses, and fur shrugs
Sex Appeal: Airy draped chiffon dresses with sheer bodices and crotch-high splits
Effortless Style: eyes mysteriously hidden by wide brims on wool fedoras and oversized sunglasses.

Fashion || Ef-Fur-Vescent: 2010 Winter Looks by Igor Gulyaev

Russian Designer Igor Igor Gulyaev was one of a select group of Russian designers featured
during the 2010 Festival of Russian Fashion. We're not atypical fans of fur BUT
It would be silly not to consider that specific garments play a major
role in regions around the world with varying climates.
With that being said, Yaev's colorful fur collection caught our attention,
along with the work of designer Tatiana Sudaryanto.

Fashion || Fashion Fur'y: Custo Barcelona Fall 2010

Everyone that knows Custo is familiar with their prints.
Their Fall 2010 collection integrated texture (fur and fringe) with Custo Barcelona's signature patterns.
Patches of bright fur were also placed across knit dresses.
Loved that technique and the result; The attitude of this collection is bringing fire!

Fashion || Modern Clown vs. Fashion Eccentric

Fashion || Modern Clown vs. Fashion Eccentric

clown:/klaʊn/ [kloun] –noun a comic performer, as in a circus, theatrical production, or the like, who wears an outlandish
costume and makeup and entertains by pantomiming common situations or actions in exaggerated or ridiculous fashion.

When I think of a clown, I think of an individual with exaggerated qualities that
goes to extreme lengths to make their "audience" laugh or smile.
Meanwhile they fill their personal voids through enabling another person's happiness.
A clown stands out in the a crowd, sometimes in a way that attracts ridicule for
compromising integrity, or attracts intrigue for being brave enough to be intensely different.

What does it take to survive the micro-environment that is THE FASHION INDUSTRY
in comparison to what it takes to survive today's GLOBAL COMMUNITY/SOCIETY?

What used to be frowned upon (extreme eccentricity) has become a major determining factor in whether or not
they are given an opportunity sought after by a crowd. People who at one time might have been considered
clown-like in appearance, behavior, personality, or by way of communication have become
trendsetters, creative directors, entertainers, reality tv contestants, names of designer labels, and faces of major movements.

Why? They are the bright haired and bright-eyed creative-geniuses wearing mix-matched colors and prints.
More ironically they are the same people many of us would not dare chastise because
they bring some of the most inconceivable ideas to the table without compromising their integrity.
It is as if it is their duty to ensure you will never forget them in hopes that you might consider
why you should be memorable and "wildly" different from the next person.

"Modern Clown vs. Fashion Eccentric" was inspired by the Z!NK's "Clowning Around" shoot featured in their Holiday 2009 issue.
To incorporate the season, the model is styled head-to-toe in fabulous furs from every spectrum.

The intense tangerine hair in contrast with the indigo shadowed-eyes are stunning and play off the theme in a way that
characterizes the shoot with folly and a rocker glam appeal. Pure eye candy!
