Fashion || Fall for Trend: Dior Military Luxe

Fashion || Fall for Trend: Dior Military Luxe

It seems as if Military-inspired fashion has come standard with every fall season since the style's resurgence in the early-2000s. It's becoming more than just a trend. Today
Military inspiration is congruent to our internal desire to be victorious in such a trivial
political and economic period. We found ourselves asking what will be different, this time?
Military Trend Staples: Herringbone, Epaulets, Gabardine, Double-breasted outerwear, Wool, Brass hardware, Etcetera.

What becomes a variable are the silhouettes, details, and the integration of prints in a look that has consisted of mostly solids in fashion history. Note for Fall 2011: Military looks inspired by non European and Western culture (Ex. World War II; French Revolution; Cold War) would be ideal for future revisits of this trend. Some redundancy is good, while other instances are not. We'd expect more than just the shoes to be different, and don't mind surprises.

Fashion || Manish Arora Fall 2010

Fashion || Manish Arora Fall 2010

Manish Arora's A/W 2010 Collection did not disappoint at Paris Fashion Week and
was in fact underrated in terms of its content and the work represented.
(This was actually the first season that STYLE.com (VOGUE) acknowledged his work, shocking).
While INSPIRAT!ON loves Manish Arora, (Read Previously Posted "Waiting in Vain: Manish Arora FALL 2010??")
not enough is being said about the majestic and stimulating details of his dreamy designs.
While his work is not conventional for the"everyday women"
Plenty of design details and concepts presented would be fabulous
to incorporate in ready-to-wear produced for the masses.
The bead work is AMAZING and intricate.
Out-of-this-World silhouettes were expected and some of the custom prints,
again, channel McQueen. BUT Arora's consistency with the bright and the bold never disappoints
and the infusion of applied design work known to be popular in his homeland (India)

Other KEY details: Shisha Mirrors; Quilting, Quilted; Structural Design, Kaleidoscope Prints;

Fashion || OVERACHIEVER: Victor & Rolf FALL 2010

Every so often you get a designer and collection that could make
McQueen's sewers cry in a corner by their lonesome.
Usually not certified as couturiers but challenge the very boundaries that the
"Masters of Fashion" would dare not ignore. They are the buzzworthy designers that transcend the boundaries of our imagination.

Featured Overachiever for Fall 2010:
Victor & Rolf

The "Glamour Factory" boasted of exaggerated tailoring --a familiar trademark of caricature silhouettes.
An all-black collection combined with metallics and other textures (fur, organic quilted embroidery, and tufts of tulle)

Fashion || Balenciaga Fall 2010 "Making Headlines"

Fashion || Balenciaga Fall 2010 "Making Headlines"

Balenciaga's Fall 2010 Collection is making headlines; literally.
The return of type-font and headline inspired prints from the mid-90s is here.
Matched up with metallic bolero jackets and pants,
one would have to blink twice to notice the top is attached to the pants.
Geometric top-stitching on the jacket and pants are beautiful!
Their looks definitely have the "future of fashion" in mind with their structural looks
that still tread the line of womenswear/sportswear without being too conceptual.

Fashion || SUNO Fall 2010

Fashion || SUNO Fall 2010

African inspired prints on the runway are here to stay.
Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty, the duo behind Suno
produced a fabulous collection featuring a mix of prints, textures and color.
Their presentation was more than enough to give the entire New York Fashion Week
calendar some attitude. Style.com reports that even though the collection is
only 2-years-old, they drew enough buzz to grab the attention of
Ikram Goldman ("Head of State Fashion" via First Lady Michelle Obama) and
Vogue's Anna Wintour. *Applause*

Fashion || Fashion Fur'y: Custo Barcelona Fall 2010

Everyone that knows Custo is familiar with their prints.
Their Fall 2010 collection integrated texture (fur and fringe) with Custo Barcelona's signature patterns.
Patches of bright fur were also placed across knit dresses.
Loved that technique and the result; The attitude of this collection is bringing fire!
