Fashion || Project Runway: Kimberly Goldson Spring 2012 MBFW

Fashion || Project Runway: Kimberly Goldson Spring 2012 MBFW

The Season 9 Project Runway cast presented their Spring 2012 runway collections with varying
themes among each designer's final runway challenge.
The contestants this season were undoubtedly a mixed bag of experience.
Much of what becomes the viewers final deciding factor on who they believe deserves the title
depends on their consistency presentation at New York Fashion Week.

Designer L'Wren Scott will be the guest judge for the Season 9 Finale.

Our blog pick was the Kimberly Golson. Focused, current, and wearable.
Kimberly produced looks that we believed to be one of the most marketable collections
of the nine Project Runway designers featured at Fashion Week.

SPOILER ALERT:
The three Season Nine finalists are Laura Kathleen, Viktor Luna, & Anthony Ryan Auld.
For-the-win, it very well could be the always confident, Laura Kathleen
who showed a well rounded collection composed of beautiful earth tones and signature
(literally and figuratively) print that was visible in most of her looks.
An amazing spiraling bangle made a bold addition to each look.

Fashion || Gucci Spring 2011 MFW

Fashion || Gucci Spring 2011 MFW

Milan fashion week showed up-and-out early for the start of their shows.
One of our favorite runway shows from the past week in Milan were the chic looks at Gucci.
Their Spring 2011 runway showcased separates created from a palette composed of teal, turquoise, tangerine and royal purple, accentuated with metallic accessories in gold (the belts remind me of the belting featured on the Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 runway).
Details included twisting bodice patterns, tucks, and pleats.
Focus on tapered pants (cut to the waist) made a sleek alternative to the now popular harem pant commonly seen on 2010 and 2011 runways.

Shisha mirror embroidery in gold thread in addition to metallic
and mirrored buttons. Gold hardwear was also top-stitched to dresses
as well as jackets in geometric patterns to create goddess-like armor on the runway.
The sophomore collection founded by architecturally-trained H.H. Khalid bin Sultan AlQasimi (Creative Director)
and Elliot J. Frieze (Chief Director of Operations) in 2008 continues to create buzzworthy looks for London and Paris Fashion Week.

Fashion || OVERACHIEVER: Victor & Rolf FALL 2010

Every so often you get a designer and collection that could make
McQueen's sewers cry in a corner by their lonesome.
Usually not certified as couturiers but challenge the very boundaries that the
"Masters of Fashion" would dare not ignore. They are the buzzworthy designers that transcend the boundaries of our imagination.

Featured Overachiever for Fall 2010:
Victor & Rolf

The "Glamour Factory" boasted of exaggerated tailoring --a familiar trademark of caricature silhouettes.

Fashion || Balenciaga Fall 2010 "Making Headlines"

Fashion || Balenciaga Fall 2010 "Making Headlines"

Balenciaga's Fall 2010 Collection is making headlines; literally.
The return of type-font and headline inspired prints from the mid-90s is here.
Matched up with metallic bolero jackets and pants,
one would have to blink twice to notice the top is attached to the pants.
Geometric top-stitching on the jacket and pants are beautiful!
Their looks definitely have the "future of fashion" in mind with their structural looks
that still tread the line of womenswear/sportswear without being too conceptual.
