Fashion || Designer on the Rise: Boxing Kitten

Fashion || Designer on the Rise: Boxing Kitten

We are thrilled to share a post regarding our high anticipation of Boxing Kitten's Fall 2010 Collection
African-inspired and printed westernized dress has paved a growing influence on spring and resort lines since the early 2000s.
with so many more options in this area of specialty
(women's contemporary designs inspired by batik and west african fabrics) Boxing Kitten is undoubtedly
a front runner within this design aesthetic.
Designer Maya A. Lake grasped the growing interest in vintage patterns and combined it with an equally
maturing affinity for African prints (sometimes referred to as "ethnic prints;" we prefer the former).
Their Resort 2010 collection provided a more than impressive display of color and print selection
adapted by sleeveless dresses, jackets, skirts, shorts and pants; looks that have been
worn and well-supported by natural beauties including Solange Knowles and Erykah Badu.
Printed shoes are also available this season.
We are expecting major distribution deals in the future for this brand. Not only has she
solidified her niche, Lake has nearly perfected it and locked-in large numbers of the African print and vintage-inspired market.

Resort collections are going crazy over "Destination Prints."
Sharing some of my favorite looks from Michael Angel RESORT 2011.
He combined digital watercolor prints with native-inspired prints that had a bleed effect
(so many designers are creating digital printed textiles).
I spy: Loosely fitting tunics with understated ties at the waist;
Sheath dresses in his collection popped by combining contrasting hues in the prints;
Tunics tops were paired up with high-waisted satin shorts;
Sleeveless tunic with a deep hood and v-neckline.

Fashion || Silvia Tcherassi Resort 2010

Designer Silvia Tcherassi produced ready-to-wear garments
for Resort 2010 that is exotic in appearance yet ethereal in movement.
Not only were the garments designed with paradise in mind,
her signature accessories embody a natural/semi-precious appearance.
Her latest jewelry designs have morphed from utilizing the wrap technique on individual
components of the necklace to linking shapes and textures that are more earthy in appearance.
For many of the looks, necklaces were styled as belts on the waist of free flowing jumpsuits.
Her work first caught my attention after Solange Knowles wore one of
Tcherassi's wrapped necklaces during her photoshoot for the October 2009
issue of Honey Magazine. Absolutely gorgeous.

Rachel Roy's collection was nothing short of simply stated and cohesive.
The collection presents several interchangeable options in her offering of fabulous seperates.
An array of textures were featured--Liquid navy jersey,
gauzy floral prints, and Sequined Lemon-Grass mesh.

Fashion || DVF Goes Minnie For Resort 2010

Minnie Mouse is IN!
Not exactly in the way you might think.
Her trademark oversized bow has become a must for Lady Gaga's wardrobe and
was a consistant accessory for Diane von Furstenburg's

Resort 2010 Runway; Bright colored Bow-tie turbans.
In addition, bold prints were visible amongst simple silhouettes
composed of pleating details and ruffles.
What else was "Mini?" Dress length.
