Fashion || BMA Modified Semi-Precious Stone Plugs

Fashion || Designer on the Rise: Miranda of BMA Modified
LA's Custome & Organic/Semi-Precious Stone Plugs

BMA Modified was founded by Miranda, a CSULB fashion student who fused family heritage
with fashion forward concepts into a collection of plugs/body modification accessories.
Her collection includes a colorful mix of semi-precious stones (pictured)
in addition to pop art inspired printed pieces donning vintage and pop art.

Timely, considering how more high-end collections utilize models with tattoos, plugs and other major body modifications.

"I was born in Bali, Indonesia and have lived in Singapore and Australia before settling in Los Angeles.
Growing up around my grandfather, who was from the Dayak tribe, I was accustomed to body modifications. Mixed with all the artistry around Bali, I learned to utilize the resources I have to make the things I want. I am very thankful to have both sides of the world, the traditional and what changes every day. "

We love her personal and professional adversity. For more information regarding BMA Modified visit their Etsy page: BMA Mod.

FASHION || Holly Fulton Spring 2011 LFW

FASHION || Holly Fulton Spring 2011 LFW

Award winning fashion designer Holly Fulton might say that
her collection is finally receiving the fashion week exposure it deserves;
The hard-at-work designer presented a line full of her trademark, fanciful, art deco prints;
her collection was a geometric playground that gave you a little bit of everything.
I spy: Sexy Fringe Detail, Bikinis, Sheath Dress, Circular Skirts, Wide Printed Harem Pants,
Art Deco Bibs that are to-die-for! I prefer to call bibs by their original name. Pectoral.
Pectorals are elaborate adornments designed to lay flat across the chest that date as far back as Ancient Egyptian times.

A grand slam combination between modern design and ancient civilization's infatuation with geosymmetry (in prints and jewelry).

Fashion || Designer on the Rise: "NAVEN" by Kym and Alexis McClay

Twin designers Kym and Alexis McClay are the minds and hands behind
NAVEN, a Los Angeles based collection that has been seen on the bodies of Young Hollywood
(including the Kardashians, Monique Coleman, Kelly Osborne).
They consider their work to be a "contrast between a classic and sophisticated silhouette and a young, fun and flirty style."
A statement that is made obvious by their silhouettes and fabric selection.

Fashion || Designer on the Rise: "Garden Party" by Eleonore Santos

Fashion || Designer on the Rise: "Garden Party" by Eleonore Santos

Because I'm a firm believer of never forgetting where you came from
I would like to feature a fabulous Designer on the Rise from my alma mater
California State University, Long Beach - Fashion Merchandising and Design Department.
I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Designer Eleonore Santos during the Project Ethos XI last year.
The young and promising designer was presented a wonderful opportunity by
Project Ethos PR rep Jill Queza: a feature in 944 Magazine's March 2010 Spring Fashion Issue.

The feature appropriately titled "The Making of a Designer" can be found for the next month here:
