Fashion || BMA Modified Semi-Precious Stone Plugs

Fashion || Designer on the Rise: Miranda of BMA Modified
LA's Custome & Organic/Semi-Precious Stone Plugs

BMA Modified was founded by Miranda, a CSULB fashion student who fused family heritage
with fashion forward concepts into a collection of plugs/body modification accessories.
Her collection includes a colorful mix of semi-precious stones (pictured)
in addition to pop art inspired printed pieces donning vintage and pop art.

Timely, considering how more high-end collections utilize models with tattoos, plugs and other major body modifications.

"I was born in Bali, Indonesia and have lived in Singapore and Australia before settling in Los Angeles.
Growing up around my grandfather, who was from the Dayak tribe, I was accustomed to body modifications. Mixed with all the artistry around Bali, I learned to utilize the resources I have to make the things I want. I am very thankful to have both sides of the world, the traditional and what changes every day. "

We love her personal and professional adversity. For more information regarding BMA Modified visit their Etsy page: BMA Mod.

Fashion || Gucci Spring 2011 MFW

Fashion || Gucci Spring 2011 MFW

Milan fashion week showed up-and-out early for the start of their shows.
One of our favorite runway shows from the past week in Milan were the chic looks at Gucci.
Their Spring 2011 runway showcased separates created from a palette composed of teal, turquoise, tangerine and royal purple, accentuated with metallic accessories in gold (the belts remind me of the belting featured on the Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 runway).
Details included twisting bodice patterns, tucks, and pleats.
Focus on tapered pants (cut to the waist) made a sleek alternative to the now popular harem pant commonly seen on 2010 and 2011 runways.

Fashion || Another Look at: MIU MIU Fall 2010

Fashion || Another Look at: MIU MIU Fall 2010

Miuccia Prada's collection presents this thought: What happens "when Mod meets Romance?"

Pinofore dresses versus Dresses with Circular skirts and deep neckline.

MIU MIU Fall 2010 is undoubtedly a chic combination of flirty and structural silhouettes.

Pops of color parallel the attitude and waves of emotion the collection draws with each look.

Contrasts can be seen everywhere, even in the wonderful cubic and floral hardware embellishments

on the garments; as well as the accessories and footwear.

Fashion || Summer Inspiration: FFW's "Sou Sol" Spread

Fashion || Summer Inspiration: FFW's "Sou Sol" Spread

If any season compels consumers to shape the body for apparel, it would be Summer.
As much of a statement the fashion forward made with eyewear in Summer and Fall 2009,
I would love to see some of the bright and bold accessories they come out with during Summer 2010.
Here's a spread from Brazil's Fashion Forward Mag (FFW) to get you in the groove.
Eyewear: LOOK1 - Oakley ; LOOK2 - Ventura ; LOOK3 - Julio Rego for Arnaldo Gonçalves Ótica;
LOOK4 - Louis Vuitton; LOOK5 - Dior; LOOK6 - Martin Margiela
I absolutely love the Brazilian canga (bikini) in the first look which is the model's own from Ipanema.

Such a great way to turn overalls into sexy swimwear!

Fashion || Proenza Schouler SPR/RST 2010 Accessories

I'm not a fan of wedges or espadrilles, but I absolutely love
the footwear in Proenza Schouler's Spring/Summer 2010 Collection.
Animalistic textures combined with suedes and complete with an au natural wood wedge
cut with curves as opposed to typical angles on wedges.
Several shoes on their runway featured footwear in lavender and royal blue with fuchsia accents.
The clutches are adorable as well as they are made from
funky prints and include iridescent chains as a handle.

Fashion || Silvia Tcherassi Resort 2010

Fashion || Silvia Tcherassi Resort 2010

Designer Silvia Tcherassi produced ready-to-wear garments
for Resort 2010 that is exotic in appearance yet ethereal in movement.
Not only were the garments designed with paradise in mind,
her signature accessories embody a natural/semi-precious appearance.
Her latest jewelry designs have morphed from utilizing the wrap technique on individual
components of the necklace to linking shapes and textures that are more earthy in appearance.
For many of the looks, necklaces were styled as belts on the waist of free flowing jumpsuits.
Her work first caught my attention after Solange Knowles wore one of
Tcherassi's wrapped necklaces during her photoshoot for the October 2009
issue of Honey Magazine. Absolutely gorgeous.

Nasty Gal brings an eclectic mix of "What's old is new again" with a fresh offering of Bay Area vintage buying.
